Liam Dowd - Owner
Meet Liam, a qualified PE teacher and UEFA-certified coach, founded Bourne Sports at just 20 years old. Driven by a passion for sport and children’s development, he creates fun, safe, and inspiring sessions that help every child grow in confidence, skills, and teamwork.
Liam began his coaching journey at the age of 16, gaining valuable experience coaching football in primary schools, nurseries, and holiday camps, as well as leading teams from U7 to U16. Over time, his roles expanded to include leading holiday camps and creating his own parent & tot classes, reflecting his growing passion for inclusive and engaging sports programs. He went on to study at the University of Brighton, graduating in 2025 with a First Class Honours degree in Physical Education with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), and is also a UEFA-qualified football coach.
Liam founded Bourne Sports in 2023 with a vision to create a community-focused hub where children and families can enjoy sport in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. Inspired by his father — a role model who gave him a well-rounded, fun view of sport and sacrificed his time so Liam could enjoy countless experiences — Bourne Sports aims to give children the same opportunities to learn, grow, and enjoy unforgettable sporting experiences. Liam’s coaching philosophy is rooted in inclusivity, teamwork, and community, ensuring every child develops skills, confidence, and a love of being active. His personal passion for sport extends from an extremely young age, with football and cricket being his favourites, and he has proudly held a Crystal Palace season ticket with his dad for the past 15 years.
